Description:
This study established normal left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) limits using 4D-MSPECT by comparing results from gated perfusion SPECT, gated blood pool (GBP) SPECT, and conventional planar blood pool imaging in the same normal population. The 4D-MSPECT surface algorithm, previously validated for perfusion imaging, was adapted for GBP analysis using gradient and morphologic operations with weighted splines to ensure smooth endocardial contours throughout the cardiac cycle.

Clinical Relevance:
The findings suggest that LVEF measurements from different imaging modalities (perfusion SPECT, GBP SPECT, and planar GBP) are comparable, with only small differences. These results confirm that 4D-MSPECT provides accurate and comparable LV function measurements from both perfusion and blood pool SPECT datasets.
