Description:
This study developed and validated a new fully automatic left ventricular (LV) surface detection algorithm for quantifying cardiac function from gated blood pool (GBP) SPECT imaging. The performance of this algorithm was compared with conventional planar GBP imaging and with functional results from gated myocardial perfusion SPECT in the same patient population.

Clinical Relevance:
Accurate and automatic quantification of LV function from GBP SPECT allows comprehensive functional assessment using the same quantitative framework as perfusion SPECT. This integration supports improved evaluation of wall motion and coordination of perfusion-function data for enhanced diagnostic insight.
