This study evaluated PET region-of-interest (ROI) quantification by comparing the bias variance tradeoff for three PET reconstruction methods: standard OSEM, quadratically penalized weighted least squares (PWLS), and a wavelet-based iterative shrinkage-thresholding (IST) method.
Clinical Relevance:
The study provided evidence the wavelet-based IST PET reconstruction method may provide reduced bias and improved noise properties compared to conventional methods, leading to improved ROI quantification.
