Moody, V. L. Murthy, B. C. Lee, J. R. Corbett and E. P. Ficaro, “Variance Estimation for Myocardial Blood Flow by Dynamic PET,” in IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, vol. 34, no. 11, pp. 2343-2353, Nov. 2015
Description:
This study developed novel analytical approximations to estimate myocardial blood flow (MBF) variance using the generalized Renkin-Crone equation and validated these estimates against Monte Carlo simulations for clinical N-Ammonia and 82 Rb dynamic PET scans.
Clinical Relevance:
The new analytical variance expressions improve the accuracy of MBF and coronary flow reserve estimations by incorporating previously neglected statistical uncertainties, enhancing PET scan assessments.
